This tour takes you on a journey through India’s National Parks which boast the most thrilling diversity of wildlife.
The Pench Tiger Reserve which is named after the Pench river, Cheetal, Sambar and Nilgai are common sights. Wild dogs and jackals roam freely. Kanha, where Rudyard Kipling wrote the Jungle Book stories is famous for tigers and one of the most beautiful parks in the country. Bandhavgarh, set in the Vindhyan Mountains is another place famous for tigers, and also Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, wild boars and foxes.
We finish the tour by visiting some beautiful temples, including those of Khajuraho and Varanasi.
9 Nights / 10 Days
Delhi - Pench - Kanha - Bandhavgarh - Khajuraho - Varanasi
Day 1 - Arrival Delhi
After arrival, we check in at the hotel. In the afternoon we visit the India Gate, Parliament House, Raj Ghat, Humayun’s tomb, Jama Mosque and Red Fort.
Day 2 -Pench
We leave Delhi in morning, reach Nagpur by air and the on to Pench Reserve by jeep. After lunch, we take an afternoon safari. We spend the next two nights at the reserve, in deluxe tents with attached bathrooms.
Day 3 - Pench
The Pench River flows from north to south of this park. This place is home to the Bengal tiger and also the shy leopards. We take safaris in the morning and afternoon to explore it.
Day 4 -Kanha
We drive to Kanha National Park where we will spend two days in a hotel. Upon arrival, an afternoon safari is optional.
Day 5 - Kanha
We spend the morning and afternoon on game drives in search of the Indian bison, wild dogs, swamp deer and tigers.
Day 6 -Bandhavgarh
We drive in the morning to Bandhavgarh, where we will spend two days. Upon arrival, an afternoon safari is optional.
Day 7 - Bandhavgarh
Bandhavgarh is a small reserve and hence provides good opportunities to view the elusive members of the cat family. It is also known for its leopards, bison, Indian wild dogs and a vast diversity of birdlife. Morning and afternoon game safaris are planned.
Day 8 -Khajuraho
In the morning we drive to Khajuraho, situated in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, 620km southeast of Delhi. It is famous for having the biggest group of Hindu and Jain temples with their intricate sculptures. The temples were built over a span of 200 years. It is a world heritage site.
Day 9 - Khajuraho-Varanasi
In the morning we tour the western group of temples, the most famous of which is the Kandariya Mahadev temple. We then fly to Varanasi and check in at the hotel. Here at Varanasi, we attend the evening aarti on the banks of River Ganga.
Day 10 - Varanasi
We watch the early morning prayer ceremonies along the ghats from a boat on River Ganga. We then visit the sights of the city. We finally tour Sarnath, a major Buddhist centre in India.
Day 11 - Departure
In the morning, depart for the airport for your onward journey.
